While things at Barlow Blue inch along and there isn’t much we can actually do right now I am looking for kitchen island inspiration.
I decided against putting in a stationary matching countertop cabinet style island. The kitchen has a lot of doors and will be a high traffic area. It has doors to the laundry room, pantry, a bedroom, the bathroom and pass through to the rest of the house. I knew even if I measured everything, taped everything out on the floor, and pretend to walk through the kitchen that it wasn’t smart to put in an island that we couldn’t change. Bonus, I love the look of a working table style island! So that is what I am looking for.
I really doubt that I will be able to find a working island table locally with out paying more than my first car. So that means either a road trip or building it with the help of my husband and dad. But that probably won’t happen until Fall I am guessing. But if I know what I want and I can get some dimensions I can start the hunt, just in case one were to fall into my lap.
Here are some islands I am eyeing online:

I love the worn and “loved” look of this but I was picturing something with a little more detail.

I love this one; the legs with some detail and the shelf on the bottom is just what I had in mind.

I like the details and unique legs on this one. But it does feel just a little heavy.

Gorgeous! But she cost $3,278 and I would need it about half the size…
