Now I know not everyone decorates or celebrates Halloween, in fact I grew up going to harvest parties at church. We dressed up (always a rodeo queen), played games and scored loads of candy all night in a warm and dry gymnasium which in Oregon, means we weren’t walking in the rain, cold and miserable.
Then I got married and my husband grew up loving Halloween. Him and his dad would go all out. They would give out the big candy bars, dress up in non-homemade costumes (whoa big spenders) and scare people on the porch. So I had no idea where to start when it came to Halloween as an adult and decorating or throwing parties.
I waffle back and forth on the whole idea behind Halloween and all that so for now I just decorate with bats, bare branches and black candles and a funny quote on the wall. We carve pumpkins, usually make chili, and have friends over for “spooky” food and games. And that’s the extent of that. I am sure if/when we have kids this might look different but for now it works for us.
Here are some fun quotes I gathered to put on your letter board, a paper roll with some string or a chalkboard to add some Halloween fun to your space.
What do you do for Halloween?
