We hosted our first dinner party in over a year on Saturday night! It was a cozy evening out on the porch, with tea lights galore and and the sound of rain in the background. Amy and I have been looking forward to this night for a long time. We absolutely love dreaming and planning a magical evening, testing menu items and finding ways to bring people together.
Rustic Italian was our theme for the night and for me that meant a white table cloth, some vintage silver and a touch of wood. I clipped the branches from my neighbors bushes that grow through my fence in a back alley. The white lilacs were so incredibly fragrant and were drop dead gorgeous but I could barely reach them. This resulted in me cutting them on my tip toes and catching them with my face. Which wouldn’t be so bad except that it had rained and they were full of water. But there isn’t much I wouldn’t do for some fresh cut flowers.
After some welcomed sunshine in Oregon the last week or so, true spring has returned with some much needed rain. So with rain on the forcast we set up our table under the covered porch and got out the heaters. Having dinner outside while the rain is pouring is its own kind of magic.
We started the night off with an antipasto charcuterie board and blood orange moscow mules.
COURSE 2: B+P Signature salad with homemade honey mustard dressing and a caesar salad with zingy dressing and homemade croutons.
COURSE 3: Fennel, potato and sausage soup and crusty bread with olive oil and balsamic dipping sauce.
COURSE 4: Handmade raviolis with vodka sauce, classic marinara and creamy pesto and spicy turkey meatballs and classic italian meatballs. You could mix and match to your heart’s desire.
COURSE 5: Mini Tiramisu and Mini Logan Berry and Lemon Trifle.
The night was elegant, cozy and full of wonderful people and delicious food. We can’t wait for the next one!
